Why can't I watch videos with Windows 10?

I downloaded Windows 10 and was pleased. I was the most "pain free" Windows upgrade that I've ever had. Unfortunately Ever since, when I try to watch a video on (say) YouTube, I get a message that there has been an error and to try again later. This is very annoying as the person who recommended that I update to 10 used ease of playing videos as a selling point. Thanks for any help.

Are you using edge? try chrome
