Windows Update Question

Hello,

On Windows 10, in Settings > Update > Advanced Options, what's the difference between choosing "Automatic" and "Notify to schedule restart" when choosing how updates are installed?

If we choose the second option, does that mean that updates won't be installed automatically?

Re: Windows Update Question

The "Notify to schedule restart" it's just, when there is an update downloaded and ready, it will notify and ask you to schedule a time to restart.

I mean, Windows updates always have three options when it downloads an update, to let Windows restart automatically your device at 3 am, you can select a restart time and you can of course restart your computer right away to install the updates.
So by setting Notify to schedule a restart, you only are suppose to get a notification from Windows 10 to set the time, nothing more. Automatic will be silent and will not bother you about it, but either way, you can change it when you want to apply the updates and restart.

if you need more control, of course gpedit.msc is needed. if you have Pro of course.

Re: Windows Update Question

Thank you!

What about on Windows 10 Mobile? Is that the same as on Windows 10 Home/Pro?
