Unusual app update activity this morning

A few weeks ago I set my app updates to manual. I missed the visibility when something is actually getting updated. Anyways, I manually check for updates 1-2 times a day and see 3-4 on average. This morning I checked and 40 apps were queued up. I am not and have never been on the Insider program on this machine. Anyone else see unusual app update activity this morning or know of a possible explanation?

I should have clarified: This is Win10 on a Surface 3.

Have a 640XL running W10M build 10549. Replaced my cracked screen this morning. After I put it back together and was testing everything out I noticed about 20 app updates pop up and install...No idea why. Thought it might have been from something I did taking it apart and putting it back together.
