Miracast? Something else? Cast to Windows 10 PC

At my church, the PC that is connected to the projector is upstairs in the sound booth (I run sound booth). I am going to be teaching a Bible study, and want to use the "cast to" function to play a video, from my SP3, to the PC (both Windows 10 RTM), to play on the projector. Does anyone know a way to do this? I'm not finding any way to make a Windows 10 PC be a Miracast receiver, and obviously if I'm standing at the pulpit, there is no Ethernet or video cable.

Thanks!

Miracast isn't for streaming between OSs, its for streaming wirelessly directly between a source and a display. Think of it as wireless HDMI.

What you probably want is DLNA, with it you can stream a video from one device to another. Both devices have to be on the same network, and the Windows 10 machine connected to the projector needs to have streaming enabled, I believe its not by default.

This is for Windows 7 but I believe its mostly unchanged in Windows 10:
windows [dot] Microsoft [dot] com/en-us/windows7/using-the-play-to-feature-to-stream-media *

If everything is set up right, you should be able to right-click a video file on your SP3 and see the "Cast to.." option available with your projector PC listed.

* I apparently haven't posted enough here to be able to post links when attempting to help people. I'll be sure to enrich the community by posting a few "lol" and "wtf" replies to some popular threads until my post count grants me this coveted privilege. :eck:

PERFECT! This is EXACTLY what I wanted to do! Thank you!

And here's the link, for others who may find this later:
Using the Play To feature to stream media

One question - I don't have an iPad (or any iDevice for that matter), but if someone else is presenting that does, is there a way for this to work from an iPad?

I don't have any Apple devices so I don't know for sure. A quick bit of research shows that natively Apple devices only want to stream to other Apple devices, but there are third party Apps available that allow streaming to other devices using DLNA.

I'm running that build on my Dell Venue Pro 8, but that's not what I'll be using. Anyway, I did test what Lord Method Man suggested with my SP3, and it worked great. The only downside is that I have to go up to the PC in the sound booth and start the Windows Media Player, then launch the cast to, then maximize the window. This is because even if you maximize the window, if you start a cast to it will resize the window, I assume to the native resolution of the video.

Of course, in practice, I'll probably do the window resizing by remoting in, and then closing the remote session. I'd play the video from the main computer, but using touch for remote still isn't the greatest experience, especially since the computer I'll be using has two screens - one in the sound booth and one is the projector.
