when I try to open a j peg I get Invalid value for registry

You do not give much info about your problem like which Windows version you have, is it with all JPEGS etc. But try to open the pictures with another program like paint and see if this works. It may be possible that you assigned a "wrong" program as "default" app to open jpegs.

I am having the same problem, I can open with paint but not jpeg, how do I fix this?
