If I upgrade using the media creation tool...

...will I have to reinstall my desktop apps? I don't feel like waiting for the upgrade to get to me, but I also don't want to have to reinstall.
 
No, it's essentially the same thing as either
- letting Windows Update do its thing with the massive ESD file
- getting an ISO of the current build, mounting it, and running setup

Both of which give you the opportunity to keep everything and upgrade.

Alrighty then. Ran a backup and here we go.
 
Well, the update ran a hitch :excited: and my Surface Book is up on 10586 with everything intact. If you don't want to wait for Windows Update to get to you, the media creation tool is the way to go.
