Recovery after installing windows 10

I have an HP laptop that came with windows 8.1 pre-installed. I have installed several programs and and several changes ever since
I have been offered the official windows 10 upgrade (from Windows Update)
Assuming I install this I would like to understand

1) Can I rollback to windows 8.1 if I wish to? How?
2) Will the HP Recovery Manager work? and if used will I get a recovery back to Factory settings or back to my state as it existed before installing Windows 10 ?
3) What happens to the original recovery partition?
4) Will another recovery partition be created in the process of upgrading to windows 10?

Thank you all for any help on these issues

Re: Recovery after installing windows 10

1. Yes you can roll back to 8.1

Go to Settings, Update & Security, Recovery and there choose 'Go back to your previous version of Windows'.

2. Yes it will work, and I believe you will be brought back to previous state, not the Factory settings.
3. I believe it stays intact
4. Yes
