The specs of my computer are :

dell
intel core i7 processor
8 GB ram
64 bit os
intel hd graphics card 4000
approx total memory of graphics card 1792 mb

Sounds like you're on a laptop. Can you confirm it's overheating and not something else?

Also be sure your drivers are up to date and try cleaning the unit.

Yes i'm on a laptop.

It works pretty fine when i browse or code but when i play games it heats up and switches off.

all my drivers are upto date. i have a cooling fan too. i know people who play similar games with lower specs than my laptop. why am i facing this issue?

Because it's not getting cooled off as it needs to. Sounds like the unit could use a cleaning.
