Making Windows (tablet mode) look a little more interesting

I've had to move to Windows 10 on my tablet due to some new hardware and really don't like the interface compared to bright and full of color Windows 8.1. To add a bit more to the screen I was wondering is a reg tweak possible to leave the left side pane (accessed from hamburger menu) open whenever you are on start i.e. not running an app

On another note is their now no app for OneDrive and only the explorer interface? I loved the OneDrive app
