Antivirus free version or Windows Defender?

Hi guys my antivirus just expired and I can't really extend it because of financial issues. I was wondering if I should just continue with Windows Defender or download those free antiviruses from AVG? I just want basic protection since I really don't do much internet browsing on this machine.

Windows Defender will give you enough basic protection. I've been using it for my day-to-day browsing for years without any problems. I generally don't visit the seedier areas of the internet though.

You can then also use your hosts file to protect your computer. Search for 'hosts suck'. It's a text page, blue background etc.
