"Wi-Fi" shown as "Wi-Fi 2" in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

I am running Windows 10 Insider build 14332 and had issues setting up home group. After running the home group troubleshooter, my ethernet and wifi adaptors got renamed to "Ethernet 2" and "Wi-Fi 2" respectively.

I am unable to rename it now. It shows an error "Cannot rename this connection. A connection with the name that you specified already exists. Specify a different name."

My internet is working fine but I am finding these names a bit annoying. I have seared online for similar issues but the solutions haven't worked for me.

The devices are still in the device manager but not connected.
These are hidden devices.
To much here to tell you how.
Search for hidden devices, device manager to find how to remove them
This has been around since XP

Sorry for replying late, but I did not get a notification on my email for your reply.
Below is the screenshot of my device manager. Please let me know which devices I will have to remove.

I tried uninstalling all, but on clicking on scan for hardware changes all of the devices come back.

Also here is where it shows "Wi-Fi 2" and "Ethernet 2"

I have a PCIe TPLink WiFi card which also started showing "Wi-Fi 2" (after I probably mucked around with it)... I had the latest driver installed automatically by Windows. So I just tried downloading the driver installer from TPLink website and installed it and lo and behold the name seems to be fixed now.

So maybe you can try downloading driver and installing manually from your product manufacturer website?

Thanks will try that and report back.

Personally, ignore it. It's just an automatic naming routine within the operating system. It shouldn't have any effect on anything.
