Hello...
For years, I've had Task Manager automatically start minimized.
Since Windows 8, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
I have a Task Manager shortcut in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\, but it refuses to start.
Any ideas?

Startup in the task manager is where you set services to start but for applications like was stated you just point to the executable file and set the trigger to at startup.

Have you tried putting it here instead? This is the all users startup folder rather than user specific.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

I'll give it a whirl, but it doesn't seem right to force it for everyone.

Edit...
Didn't work.

I see no ability to add things to the Startup tab of Task Manager.
I can Run New Task, but that's just one instance of an executable.

Create it in the Task Scheduler. You can schedule something at user logon.
While that is an option, it doesn't give the ability to start minimized (like a shortcut in the appropriate folder).
Unfortunately, this seems to be the only option that will actually work.
It's sad that something that has worked for so many years is left out in the cold.
