Since windows 10 installed itself my laptop won't start.

It worked for about a week, then it just cut out. I tried to restart it and it repeatedly cut out before starting. When I finally managed to get to the repair screen nothing would work. I tried a factory reset, but guess what, it cut out before it had finished. I had been running windows 7 with absolutely no issues up until this point and it has me at my wits end since all of the problem solving tips kind of revolve around the bloody thing actually staying on long enough to do them.

Cut out = ? Switches off? Restarts? It's possible your battery has finally died and won't hold a charge.
