I've been using Kaspersky Anti Virus and ever since getting windows 10, I've known that windows defender has been disabled.

Today to my surprise, windows defender started doing a scan while KAV is on at the same time.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Check in Settings if your WDefender real time protection is turned on, if yes than turn it off. Description there says that if Real time protection is turned off for a while, it would be turned on automatically. Also check the registry!

It happened to me ONCE: simultaneous system and antivrus update, so I guess Windows assumed I was without protection (it popped out some warning notice)

Go to settings and disable it, then go to extended control panel -> Admin tools -> Services, and search and disable defender.
At last, ctrl + shift + esc for task manager -> disable any defender instance you see between tabs (startup, services, etc.)

it's on and I don't mind it being on. It used to be like that in windows 7, both defender and KAV on. It never brought me any problems

Now it's off . It would have been nice if both could have been on. I guess it must have been a glitch
