Details: Laptop with Windows 10. I mostly use my laptop at home as a desktop. But sometimes my work will require me to take it to office/field. I have 'User must enter password to use computer' disabled.

The default lock setting requires you to input a password/pin every time you turn on your computer, something which is quite annoying and keep it disabled for this reason.

But I would like to lock my PC on some occasions especially when i take my laptop out. I assumed pressing the 'Windows key + L' would lock my computer indefinitely. But restarting the computer skips the lock screen and logs straight into windows.

Is this a glitch? A fault? Is there a work around? Any way to lock the PC on the go?

you would need to enable "'User must enter password to use computer' . There is no glitch

You could do this through command line BAT files and registry files. What you're asking Windows to do is turn on and off the automatic login feature.

How To Automatically Login In Windows 10

That contains the registry values you'd need to enable automatic login. Simply create the REG file needed to enable that feature. Create another REG file with that feature disabled. Create a BAT file that asks you to choose which one you'd like. If you choose to lock the PC - it imports the REG file to disable the auto login feature and then calls: rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

Well, you CAN set a password, then set auto logon, Nifity Microsoft tool and it works in 10...

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/autologon.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

And when you want to lock your computer, Just hit CTL+ALT+DEL and select lock your computer... Of course you NEED to have a password to lock your computer.
