Xbox Video update - thumbnail previews gone?

So among the latest updates for W8 apps Xbox Video was updated and I was surprised to find that when playing a movie navigating to the main screen stops the movie entirely compared to the earlier version where you would have a thumbnail preview version playing at the bottom of the screen. Has anyone noticed the same? I had this on two PC's and on one I uninstalled it and reinstalled to see if it was a bug and strangely got the earlier version back so I'm keeping that for now.
