This was tweeted out recently. Apparently as mentioned WIndows 8 app store is at ~ 80,000 apps which is decent. Better than Android IMO, Galaxy Tab 10.1 was a horrible experience for me .

Popular apps come to Windows 8

I hope this growth continues. 10,000 apps in 3 weeks is an astonishing pace.

Not only more apps, but some of the ones I have already have been getting updates the last couple of weeks. Good to see some devs keep improving existing ones.

I've only recently started using Windows 8, but after being on WP8 for several months, I am actually disappointed in the app selection for Windows 8 thus far. I really hoped it would be on par with the WP platform, but it isn't.

I would love to see all of the apps that I have on my phone also be available on my laptop and Surface (hint, hint, wpcentral).

My dream is that my Windows 8 start screen would look just like my Windows Phone start screen (including a unified messaging app and unified 'phone' app). I know we're not there yet, but I can dream.

To me, this is the promise of the Windows ecosystem. I'll be really disappointed if they don't pull it off.
