Messaging App Windows 8.1 - FIX

Orginally suggested by Surfacedue, these are the steps to have the messaging app in Windows 8.1 reappear.

1. uninstall the mail app, this will uninstall the people, mail and calendar apps
2. go to the Windows Store App and search for mail, you should see one of the options is mail, calendar, people..ect
3. Install the the app, and messaging app will be reinstalled with this.
4. You might need to go into email and any email that is an exchange account, you will need to reenter in your password and accept any restrictions.

i'm having all kinds of email issues w/ the preview up date, but after the third time of uninstalling the suite of email, calendar, et cetera app, the messaging app appeared out of nowhere. looks like the messaging app is a part of 8.1.

It re-appeared after one time of uninstalling and reinstalling for me.

I don't think this is the case. It could be or maybe Skype will be integrated into the messaging hub.

No, with the update of today is it official: RIP Messaging app
It's now called 'Mail, Calendar and People' (only viewable in Windows Store itself)

This is no longer a fix. Skype is now integrated into the People Hub. If you click on send a message via messenger, it opens up Skype.
