Error when tryng to install 8.1 update

like many of you I was excited to try and install the new windows 8.1 update today, though after 5 attempts I'm not closer as I keep getting the same error message and I don't know what it means. Please see the attached pictures

Are you up to date with all your updates on Windows 8 and if you just do a check to make sure?

It turned out to be the system partition which I managed to extend through some research, though this was after Microsoft charges me ?20 for phoning their customer services who were unable to fix the problem
