Why can't I pin Live Tiles on Desktop

I hate the start screen in windows 8. I also hate that i need to go to it to go into an app.

There is so much wasted space on the desktop screen, why can't I just have a live tile on the screen that I actually use?

Is there a program that will let me put Live Tiles on my desktop screen?

I will stick to downloading programs if this isn't fixed, I had to download modern mix just to run apps on my desktop...

the live tile pinning isn't in W8.1 with a bit of luck it will in Threshold.

I have downloaded Modern Mix to launch Metro Apps on my desktop and I can Pin them to my Task Bar if I wanted.

I want visually see updates of my stocks, rss feeds, sport feeds, emails, agenda and notes on my destop.

I have also downloaded Metro Sidebar but the app selection for it is very scarce so i disabled it.
