Non-Touch Laptop Hooked Up To a Touch Screen Monitor?

As the title states, could I connect a laptop that has no touchscreen capabilities to a touchscreen monitor for the functions? The OS I am discussing by the way is Windows 8.1.

That's a great question. I would expect the second monitor to have no problems working but as for the touch aspect, I really don't know. I would think the touch monitor would have to have a special program or drivers to make the touch work.

Remember that the touch capability is offered by a USB connection. Some monitors may require USB 3.0 so if the laptop only supports USB 2.0, make sure the monitor does too. So you will plugging in 2 cables from the laptop to the monitor, one for video, and one for touch. The screen on the laptop itself is not a determining factor. Also for most monitors, the drivers for both video and touch should be installed automatically with Windows 8.1.
