The newest Windows 8.1 update changed the size of my taskbar, icons, and basically all text on my desktop. Yes, I made sure that my screen resolution was still set to 1920x1080p, which is the resolution of my display. Also I checked the taskbar settings to make sure that the "small icons" checkbox was unchecked. I am at a loss for why this happened. I looked through the Control Panel for any clues but came up short. If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

Check the settings in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display. OR
you can "right click " on the desktop choose "Personalize" and select "display". There see what is set for "Change the size of all items".

Can you do the same as windows phone I.e "sync my settings" option so that when you dud the update and pc needed restart when you logged back in the settings wouldnt of changed or maybe you should of made a backup of all settings before the update.

Send using my Nokia Lumia 520 via the Windows central app

The slider is set all the way to "Larger." I tried changing it to Medium and Smaller before going back to larger but it didn't help.

Can you do a system restore? I think the update wasn't finished downloading or installing and caused a corruption.

Your very welcome. System restore is your best friend when it comes to your pc. So happy for you.
