Upgraded to Windows 8.1 from less than legal Windows 7. How do I know if I have a legitimate copy of 8.1?

Upgraded to Windows 8.1 from less than legal Windows 7

Hello, I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from a *ahem* less than legal copy of Windows 7. I payed my money, downloaded the update through Microsoftstore.com and followed the setup process, afterwards I entered my product key and that was that. However, since then, I've had this nagging feeling that Microsoft still doesn't consider my OS "legitimate". Is there anyway to check that I have a legal, legitimate copy of windows 8.1?

I'd check any and all about screens. See if Windows is activated or any jazz like that.

I actually don't know how that works, if it does or not.

Go to the control panel, then System. You will see Windows Activation status at the bottom. If it says activated, you are good to go. Windows will let you know straight away if you are not. Usually shows up on the desktop.

Regards,
Gary
