It's possible to grab a bargain when it comes to refurbished or second-hand PC components. I remember picking up a used AMD FX-4100 quad-core CPU for around ?30 a number of years back, which performed without issue (overclocked to 4.8GHz) until it was replaced earlier this year by an overclocked Intel Core i5 6600K.
