The current state of Windows 10 Mobile is disheartening and it is forcing a lot of users to switch to competing platforms like Apple's iOS. That switch to iPhone may not be easy ... but it doesn't have to be unpleasant.
And lots of Windows 10 Mobile users are former users of a system that happens to have a lot of common with modern versions of iOS: Windows Phone 8.

Price is certainly a deterrent.
Cricket currently has the iPhone SE for $199. That's quite a deal.

Is cricket a carrier, is that like a contract? Because otherwise that would be a steal for a 2016 phone. Because that's a tad cheaper than the 950 I just picked up (not that I am wanting an iPhone, just agreeing that its cheap)

Yes, Cricket is an MVNO. Owned by AT&T and use their towers.
That was the price to buy it outright. There are no contracts with Cricket though you can roll the price of phones into monthly payments I believe.
The price was cheap enough for me to try it out.

It is a carrier. That is the price to buy it outright, but it is locked to Cricket. In order to get it unlocked from Cricket you need to either have the unlimited plan ($60 a month), or 6 months on any plan.
