New phone - OK to use wireless only before activation?

New Focus S user on ATT here.

The "quick start" card says not to use wireless before activating the phone. I have a little time left on my expiring contract and was hoping to just use the phone on wireless for a few days to sign in and get a few things set up.

Anybody have any thoughts on whether it's ok to do so, or should I take the quick start card seriously?

Thanks!

(only 2 post in hehe)

it doesn’t really matter.

just that SOME features need you to connect to 3G to be activated

Ex: Find my phone

maybe a couple others that don’t really affect the overall functionality of the OS

Wost case , when you get connected to 3G , do a softreset .. maybe a hardreset if some features dont kick back in.

Awesome, thanks. That's kinda what I thought. I won't need the phone for calls, or any 3G specific data, but I wanted to sync with my live account and check out the marketplace and use IE.

Some people just have no patience davidkhou. ;)

I would have followed the Quick Start card to the letter. (Yeah Right) :)
