Succesful WP8.1 updates on Icon?

Well this is the Dev preview without a firmware update, so I wouldn't have them do it unless they know going in that it is a preview not the general release. Hopefully a lot of this stuff gets fixed by the time the gen. release.

HECK YEAH!!! Upgraded this AM at work and it went off without a hitch. The Facebook 'integration' will take a little getting used to but overall the update is OUTSTANDING! GREAT JOB MICROSOFT

Only problem is that compared to WP8 it's very laggy. Everything works fine. It's just really slow and jerky.

I downloaded it this morning, gets extremely hot even on airplane mode and drains in about 4 hours, worst decision ever

I'm amazed at how many of you people don't just do a hard reset to fix the little bugs you're having. I did a soft reset to get rid of some battery drainage, and I'm good to go.

Other than the power button lag, mine is working great. I might try a hard reset tonight to see if that resolves things. I really love the keyboard, I forgot how much I missed Swype.

My phone was really hot for the first 4-5 hours but it has settled back to a normal temperature now. It felt a bit like my laptop when I open one of my old PST archive files in outlook. I wonder if it was indexing my mail, texts and docs...

Try turning off Cortana and see if it helps your power button lag. It seems to have helped mine.

Yup that's what it was doing. It's the same thing a getting a new Lumia phone or doing a hard reset.

Did this and am still getting the same issue. If I try waking it up within a few seconds of the display turning off, it seems fine. It's only if the screen has been off for awhile.

I have hard reset the device twice, soft reset at least 10 times, had 3 brick scares where the device wouldn't respond to a power button click at all (each rectified by a soft reset), and countless instances of a delayed response. Hopefully this can get fixed. As a side note, I just received a replacement for earlier issues with WiFi and random reboots under 8, and my volume rocker is not secure and I can watch and hear it shake. Does anyone think I would be able to ask for another replacement from Verizon without any troubles (seeing as 8.1 is not officially released by Verizon)?

Anyone know how to disable the notification pull down when the device is locked by pin?

Seems sort of counterintuitive for security if the notifications are accessible when the device is locked.

Did a complete hard reset, downloaded no third party apps, stopped all background processes, turned of 4G, wifi, etc. and it still drains over 20% per hour while idling

When you do a hard reset it downloads all of your apps and restores all of your settings. It also indexes/restores all of your previous email, text, call log, etc.

I'd say see how it goes throughout the day. It'll likely be better tonight.

If you knew you didn't like the buttons on the device, why did you install the WP8.1 preview on it? Kinda silly...

Anyway, there's no harm in trying to return it if it's really not working for you... But don't be surprised if they give you some pushback because of the update. They have every right not to take it back.

A matter of anxiousness I suppose. I'll try and hopefully it won't cause any troubles.
