Back button not closing apps?

Hey there,

Just noticed recently that some apps, Facebook and Skype are two, but not all, are not closing when we use the back button. Anyone else experiencing this or does anyone know of a fix? This could have been going on for some time but we just noticed it in the last few weeks.

Lumia 1020 & 920 running 8.1 and Cyan. Regular Facebook and Skype apps, no beta.

This is how the new apps are supposed to behave, WP 8.1 introduced the possibility for developers to make apps that are not closed by back button but are left open in background. Not many support the feature at the moment, I know Facebook, Skype, Skype Qik, Flipboard do.

Not fully closing apps means they will resume faster.

You can still close them fully by holding the Back button then touching X in the TR corner of the app window.

That said some apps (Here+ and BBC iPlayer Radio for two) do not re-act kindly to being closed like that and can throw a wobbler next time they are opened.

Thanks everyone for their input. Not sure we like apps not closing unless we X them out (knew we could do that already but no way you guys could of known we know...that was a mouthful ). Resuming faster doesn't mean as much to us as resource usage, I'm sure others have the opposite opinion. We actually noticed it because of increased battery drain....oh well, one more silly annoyance to get used to.

They still remain the in suspended state, so it shouldn't use any battery. Check your background task.
