It seems that the photos app does not use Date Modified to sort videos, but rather Date Created. This is an issue if I copy a video from my PC, as the Date Create will be today's date, but the Date Modified remains the original date. I've noticed this issue on MP4 videos that were originally shot with my phone.
It seems strange:
1) that the camera wouldn't put the date created into the MP4 XMP metadata
2) that the photos app wouldn't use xmp metadata for sorting
3) that in the absence of xmp metadata, the photos app would sort on the useless date created
I guess I'm just shocked that videos recorded on a phone don't have a metadata/sorting scheme that is robust enough to survive a file copy.
Edit: another strange issue. If instead of copying the files to the SD card directly via a card reader, if I copy those videos files over to the SD via the phone's USB connection, I get an error saying the mp4 files need to be converted before the phone could play them! These are videos recorded on the phone (with MS Camera or Lumia Camera)!
