I have a Lumia 920 running OS version:8.10.14234.375 Firmware revision number: 3051.50009.1451.1007 update to Denim.

First :i have activated my Glance ,set to peek, witch does not work all the time to begin with. Cuz when you double tap the screen it shows the lock screen instead of the glance. More to add to this matter, Glance Background Beta app is no longer available to install on Denim. This is not so good, since it was a very important at least to me.

Either something is wrong with my phone or maybe i just don't know how to use it. Here's what's happening

In the settings menu ,at the Notifications+actions I have ticked the box "Show notifications in action center when my phone is locked".
I have set songs for glance screen, messaging, outlook, phone and wi-fi.
So theoretically when my phone is locked and i am away from my desk if i receive a call, when i return,at a certain period of time, without me touching the phone,it should make a sound notifying me .Is that correct ?

Well this does not happen . It never notifies me.I have also noticed something, that some features are not running when battery saver is on. But regardless of this i never get any sounds notifications even with phone fully charged.

What is happening here, can somebody give me any tips ?

You're wrong. It will not notify you. This is not how glance works.

Also, When you double tap your screen, it will not take you to glance. It will take you to lock screen. So, it is behaving correctly.

What glance is supposed to do is provide you with notifications on your phone without having to unlock your phone.

For example, If you have 3 missed calls and 5 sms messages, the notification for theses (which appear on your lock screen), will appear on your glance screen at the bottom.

Basically, glance will mimic your lock screen.

you can also chose to show detailed information on the glance screen. Eg. The sms message it self will appear on the glance screen. Not just the notification.

I would also make sure you have the latest version of "Glance screen" (glance screen | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States))

as well as display (display | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)) . and extras and info (extras+info | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States))

This much was clear to me.
What about the sound notification ? If you look at the official post "Quick look at the new notification and action center in Windows Phone 8.1" (i can't put direct link the forum won't let me) you will see that at the beginning of the video he has a sound. It was a sound notification from his locked phone.

My issues is that i do not get those sounds, even tho i have them set up to be very loud actually.

No.Never.Not from action center at least.
If somebody calls me or if somebody texts me,yes i get sound. But other than that, nothing.

What are you saying? Do you want a notification like after the text or call?

Example. You've missed a call and you did not hear your phone ringing.... You return to your phone, but do not check it... Lets say 10 minutes have passed. Do you now want an alert to notify you that there is a missed call?

YES! That is exactly what i want. Precisely.

And it seems to me that in settings over notifications+actions, you can do this. I have ticked the "Show notification in action center when my phone is locked" . Phone On:Banners,Sounds,Vibrations i have chose a custom ringtone.
Unfortunately as i mentioned before. I never get any. It's dead silent.

As far as I know windows phone does not have a repeat audio notification that you wish for ( and me too please microsoft), the settings you mention are for sounds, vibrations etc for the action and notification centre, if you turn those options off then the audio, vibrate alerts won't trigger for events that appear in the notification arrear. These events only appear once in the notification area so a repeat alert is never triggered.

This is my understanding but I am new to windows phone, it was the first thing I missed coming from Android but to be honest I'm finding the glance screen such a great feature that I'm already used to "glancing" rather than listening

Coming from Android....like i said. Phones 10 years ago had these feature. My old motorola every 3 minutes it beeped or vibrated after a missed call or sms. I was very upset when last year i bought a Lumia 920 that cost me a lot of money, considered to be a flagship amongst smartphones to discover that it couldn't even pas as a phone.
But yet another crazy thing since these horrible update to Denim, has happen. In LUmia Cyan i could have set a custom ringtone to sms's . I can't do that anymore. It just vibrates when i get a sms.
At Ringtones+Sound . Vibrate On. Ringtone (i have it set). Reminders (i have that set). Play a sound for camera shutter, system alerts etc all ticked. .
Then "manage app sounds". ANd i have all the apps set to play a ringtone.
Witch they never do. My phone is dead silent.
Does anybody else have this problem ?

For the reminder for notifications, I would use the glance screen. That way, when you get back to your phone, you can just glance at the screen without touching it and see the notifications for the miss call or text msg etc.
