Start screen just went blank

I had an unusual experience yesterday with my phone cleared most of my start screen.. I couldn't see most of my apps on the side menu... Only 5-6 tiles were working... Did soft reset,didn't help.. So I finally did hard reset today and everything's working finally. .. In this process i lost all my apps and their data... Esp. game data, which really sucks... Anyone else had this experience?

When my people app crashed (no idea why), messaging, phone and everything that used contacts went off, only independent apps were working. Soft reset did not work and after a hard reset it finally go fixed, got some of my stuff via back up but lost game progress, playlists....

Well that does suck... I got some of my data back via back up... But game data is gone... Imagine you play a game for months and you are back on square one... Frustrating
