With WP8 if you phone is locked and you receive a text message -- do Toasts still appear above the lockscreen like on WP7 or have they fixed that?

I wouldn't really consider that as a fix. I think the toasts were an intentional design.

You don't want toast notifications on lockscreen? This is the problem with the OS, right?

    Correct.

My concern is that if I were to leave my phone on my desk and someone is in my cube and I get a text -- they could read the text (or at least part of it) even though my screen is locked.

I realize by default iOS will allow people to read/preview texts above the lockscreen also, however iOS lets you disable that feature.

I am hoping that toasts do not appear above the lockscreen anymore.

There should be an option for both.
