I know that currently Windows Phone 8 does not support the Bluetooth HID stack (for connected input devices like keyboards, mice, gamepads, etc. via bluetooth) nor MHL (HD-out via USB).

The Bluetooth in particular bugs me because playing any game asides from Angry Birds on the device is simply frustrating. Particularly with my Lumia 920: trying to play Sonic CD, for example, my thumb will slide off the virtual D-pad and hit one of the capactive buttons frequently. I *need* to be able to connect a bluetooth gamepad (such as a PS3 controller, PhoneJoy, iMpulse, etc.) to do any kind of gaming on the thing. Occasionally being able to hook up a bluetooth keyboard to use with Office would be great too.

So, does anyone know if Microsoft is planning on adding a Bluetooth HID stack and/or MHL support? I chose the Lumia 920 over the Galaxy Note II, but I'm seriously considering paying the extra $200 for the Gnote2. Not *just* for these reasons, but knowing that support for these will be added would be enough to keep me from returning my Lumia 920. Which I don't want to do. It's a beautiful phone and there's a lot to like about WP8.

Wow, no replies! :) I came here looking to see if WP8 supported gamepads - sad to see it does not. I knew it didn't in WP7, but was hoping that the shared kernel with W8 meant we could finally get gamepad support (native 360 style support would be ideal so that any games ported from 360 could easily support a gamepad). I guess this explains why don't see any WP8 support on the awesome gamepads that are coming out for Android/iOS. I came to WP expecting MS to push games hard, but it's becoming more and more obvious that they are not important to them.

well, here is the tough part, they have alot on their plate, so not that i want to bring up the old argument again, but prioritization is still a very important thing
the other tough part for us, the forum crawlers, to answer this is that we don't know what they are focusing on right now (but then again, i didn't see this post until now...)
i actually had a sense they were focused on enterprise for Apollo before they finally announced it, i think it turn out to be some what true

i think they will be adding it eventually, just don't know when... at least we've heard that the 920 is Bluetooth 4.0 capable, it's just the OS hasn't caught up yet, so there is a good chance we will see that sometime this year (i wouldn't get your hopes up though...)

When i bought the 820 i did not thought of using it with a bluetooth keyboard. My old Symbian was able to so why shouldn't WP. I was shocked after testing and seeing it doesn't work. It's not like i would use it often with a keyboard. But the fact that simple things you see in way more aged operating systems is missing on WP was a real bummer for me.

They provide some nice office apps and you can't connect a bluetooth keyboard. Honestly... what is wrong with MS. The average user will never complain about the missing HID feature. That's why i thing we will not see HID in WP8 at any time.

I saw my self already sitting at the university's library and typing some drafts with my bluetooth keyboard into the 820. That never gonna happen:(
