    Maybe this is a dumb question or been answered a 100 times, however....

    What is the Purpose of Manually Typing in MMS APN information? I was playing with the Messaging Settings and saw this.

    The purpose would be if you wanted to use another carrier's network. For example, if you had an unlocked device and wanted to use T-Mobile instead of AT&T. The APN enables the device to talk to the network. Access Point Name - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    not just different carriers, but on the same network, Straight Talk has different APN settings than the ATT network they ride on.
