Does WP 8 support true pureview?

At the moment, no. The initial spec for Windows Phone 8 calls for a Snapdragon S4, which supports a maximum of a 22MP sensor, I believe.

The most that can feature is 21MP, which I think is more than enough to be declared Pureview. Maybe in the future MSFT will allow a 41MP camera and WP8.5

I'd rather have an 8MP camera with variable apertures and manual/shutter/aperture priority modes than a 41MP sensor with fixed aperture and automatic only.

I would like to interject a different opinion. I believe WP8 in its current form can be made to support 808-style Pureview tech. It's well-documented that Nokia achieved 41 MP through the use of a dedicated imaging chip. HTC uses the same method to achieve different results (faster photos, superb wide-angle FFC), so it wouldn't be a stretch to see Nokia adapt the 808 tech to a WP device. In fact, I would wager they already have a working prototype, which won't go into production unless they deem the market ready for such a device. (ie the 920 is a huge success and WP adoption is to the point where a niche device will actually sell)

Certainly, I would pay over 100 ? more, to have it ... to get the such great photos, some Pureview 808 can produce ... and even better, Lumia 920 with OIS, but to have additionally clearly bigger sensor and Xenon flash (just like 808) - sounds really great for me ... :)

To me, the only thing that could improve the 808 camera would be ois. Combined with WP 8. I could go from 2phones(920 and 808) to one.
People ***** about the 929 cam, but it's one of the better, but like any other camera phone, it doesn't hold a candle to the 808. Except in video recording. I think the 920 has the best video recording ability of any phone due to the ois
