SPP Support for WP8

I have started an idea on the WP suggestion page. Please vote so that Microsoft will know SPP is needed by it's users =)

I do believe that WP8 already supports it. While I'm not 100% sure it is indeed the SPP, Apps can communicate over bluetooth to paired devices via a stream. So if it isn't the SPP, it works the same.

Read your own link. It says: "SPP = Serial Port Profile (AT Commands) No"

However, if that link is true, I wonder what profile is used in phone to device bluetooth communication...

I only know a little about this subject. However, there does seem to be a work around that exists, though official SPP isn't currently supported by Windows Phone 8. Here is a quote from the forums at the getpebble.com site regarding WP8 and SPP/Pebble Smartwatch support. Even if you have not ordered a Pebble, I find it important to the overall evolution of Windows Phone and the adoption by consumers.

Using RFCOMM, a developer should be able to get a socket via peerfinder and build an SSP implementation on top of that.
