I tried to connect a Nokia Lumia to an HTC 8X via Bluetooth, they are both new windows 8 phones they both recognised the other phone and gave the normal pairing code message but that was as far as they would go. Nokia then came up with a message that there was a compatibility issue and the HTC just said cant connect. How can two phones running the same operating system not be able to pair

because there is nothing you can do between paired phones. you don't need pair them if you want to exchange files. just use tap+send functionarity.
