The CEO of Ford constantly drives competitors vehicles. These are cars that cost $25K. I sure hope someone is using iOS and Android and BlackBerry at Microsoft. You need to examine the competition.

Yeah Microsoft is cool like that. They will openly use competitors stuff to test it and see what they can learn. They don't pretend to be "above" trying other companies' stuff...

Well I wouldn't blame him, Android is the better phone experience as of right now.

In this day and time you have to know whats up with your competition. TNot doing constant evaluation of competitors would be insanity!

Confession. I have an iPhone and I use it to test out iOS exclusive apps from time to time. It's a few years old, so I might pick up the iPad mini to do the same. But I think shutting out other operating systems is silly, you need to understand the competition.

The Adobe app in Android was horrible compared to WP7 latest version

That's purely subjective and depends on what your needs are.

Ipad mini is probably the best consumption device going right now...my regular ipad collects dust as I find I use my laptop more as it's not comfortable to hold forever...if the regular ipad had a surface like setup I'd maybe use it more...the mini seems to be perfect for checking out sites, etc...still not a fan of android on tablets yet...getting there though.

Steve Jobs actually used a Galaxy Tab 8.9 when it was released. He then sent an email to Jony Ive (?) and asked him about the possibility of an iPad mini.

I usually carry an Android phone along with my Lumia 920 because I appreciate the features of both platforms. However I am not in Joe B's position & I'm sorry its just not a 'good look'.

Now Joe Belfiore has no excuse. WP8 can easily be as good as android, and with a bit of effort, surpass it. At the moment, it needs a couple of features thrown in, and a fair bit of polishing. I hope Joe Belfiore sees that, and get the WP8 team to work on those things, it would also be very good if some sort of commitment was made to bring out some of those features and tweaks, rather than just checking out the competition.

The problem that nobody in this thread is mentioning is the fact that WP8 has drastically less features than every other competitor including Symbian phones and when you're a WP8 user and you see the man behind this OS using another phone, well, I can see why some people would consider it insulting, despite the logic behind it.

While there might be some features missing depending upon who you ask, it's always a case of which features are really needed and which are not. People on forums have no idea how product management works and that one of the biggest killers of a product is adding features upon features...simple is killer and also the most difficult thing to achieve...
I'm not arguing the platform couldn't use a notification centre or a particular feature I'm just stating that I personally would not want to get like Android or windows mobile in the past or even the old BB OS (prior to BB10) which had an insane amount of settings that 99% of people never would use in a million years.

Is that why Android has 53% of the US Smartphone market? Too many features?

Nobody is going to use Windows Phone if it can't do most of what the competition can do, at the very least.

If you think that, why are you even on a Windows Phone forum?
