Isn't there some way to quickly shut these phones up? ie: turn off ring and vibrate and use only visual alerts, without having to go all the way into settings to completely disable vibrate? What's so hard about letting users tap the ring/vibrate icon to toggle silent?

Just click the volume button and tap on the ring icon in the top right corner :)

You'll find these options in 'Settings' then 'Attentive Phone'. That's where you can pick your poison.. :)

"Attentive Phone"? Not seeing that on my L920.

Attentive phone is HTC feature, not in Lumia 920. Press any volume key and on the right, tap on the bell till you see silent icon.

Sorry about that. Its native on the 8X, but Nokia recently put out an app that offers similar functionality. I do not remember the exact name though. Its there.. Let me know if you find it.

I don't think it's available to all. I don't have it on my Lumia.

Vibrate can only be turned off it it's off from the settings. There isn't anyway around it on Lumia. On HTC there is.

Actually, you can toggle between ring and silent...

In your ringtones+sounds settings, if you have vibrate on then the volume short cut will toggle between "vibrate" or "ring+vibrate." If you have vibrate off, it will toggle between "ring" or "silent."

True. But my man is looking for a an immediate solution. I've times where its but seconds where I need tone+vibe, just vibe, and as OP elegantly stated, Shut the **** up!

OP never said that. Too much desperation.

Well true. Did not say it. Maybe thought it??? Sometimes I suffer from premature posting disorder. ;)
