I thought they were adding an x on the running applications. Then just press x to close apps.

That was a early dev build of the notification system, and other features coming in the "Blue" update this fall. Likely they will change considerably.

Heh, even if it were real, how does it "show" Apple anything? They implemented swipe up to close an app in iOS7. Props to Apple for taking the multitasking window view from WP and making it behave like everyone here wanted it to

Most of these UI elements just make sense, so of course they all look the same or similar.
