Is it me, or do a lot of apps list many more services than they should require access to?

For instance (a random choice) Battery status apps... some require your phone ID, your owner, location, movement sensor, media playback.

Why? A battery app should NOT care who I am or where I am...

I think I don't download half the store apps because of this.

Am I the only one who thinks apps are requesting access to excess phone services?

I agree. Way too many apps require info they really don't need. While I love my 920, I do miss my iPhone at times. I had a firewall on it that blocked all info being reported back to developers. Made me feel alot safer.

iOS doesn't have a firewall. Apps can get your contacts, calendar and many more things without any information. The only "firewall" is the app review process by Apple, but that isn't 100% secure.

As far as I know, the owner information is still anonymous. Developers just know, that you're another guy, than somebody else using the app.
