Anyone know the differences between IM+ free and IM+ Pro?

Going off the descriptions, I'm thinking the only thing that is different is the push to email option...but is there anything else? Trying to decide if it's worth getting while on sale..

Not only that. I think the most important one is that it keeps your push session connected for at least 3 days and you can switch it to up to 5 days.

That implies that with the IM+ Free you don't get notifications if the app is not opened? Would it be enough with having the live tile or do I have to have the app opened in the background?

Exactly. My pro version is even more reliable at getting msg when closed instead when active IMO. The push server paying is worth every penny..

Free had to be asked to be kept active under lock screen to be a bit reliable. Pro is always for me.
