windows PHONE central indeed

I was going to start ranting from the rooftop but decided to go straight to the point. This website is called windows PHONE central, but all it does is carry all news about Microsoft. Not that that is a bad thing, but i feel news on this site should be purely about PHONES, windows PHONES in particular. Therefore, i recommend the name of this site be changed to WINDOWS or MICROSOFT CENTRAL. That will justify covering all news Windows or Microsoft related. Just my 2 cents.

We can't just start living in a bubble, can't we Every piece of news on this site is directly or indirectly related to Windows Phone.
For example, what if Microsoft decides to make Silverlight mandatory on Windows 8 apps, would that affect WP? Of course it will!

Microsoft's vision and plan is to create an ecosystem where all devices (PC, tablet, game console, smartphone, car, house, cloud) are connected. When everything is connected, it makes sense to discuss each thing and how it interacts with the other things.

I suppose most of us saw the #xboxreveal event last night and the presenter could not even mention he was using a windows phone to control things. He just said he can control the box with his phone

They do the same on the other sites of the Mobile Nations. None are phones exclusively. Besides, you never know when someone might wander over here looking for info on their Surface, and start reading the phone forums. Could end up being another convert to Windows Phone.

I do enjoy the fact that when we covered only phones there were complaints that we needed to expand. Now that we've got a Microsoft news editor to bring you even more content we have complaints that we need to streamline more. Is it time for a poll?

Certainly, topics that relate to the "WP" ecosystem are covered and maybe some are a little over the line. That's okay, that is the nature of things. If the name were "Windows Central" or "Microsoft Central" it would be natural for the line to move out further and we would discuss more topics like Mary Jo Foley does (Hudoop, Microsoft Investments, and more.)

I like it just as it is.

The reality is that there aren't 30 articles about phones (especially limited to just one platform) each day. It would be rather dull. Have u seen the Windows Phone twitter page? Its just the same stuff normally about the phones features, which most ppl have already discovered. So I actually appreciate the grab bag of Microsoft news...u never know what you're going to see. It makes my live tile interesting, otherwise I would have uninstalled this app a long time ago. But I really love it...its my most used app!

Nope, no need for a poll nor a name change. WP ties into a lot of MS services now so covering them and their potential impact (if any) on WP is completely relevant. A name change wont change what the site stands for and seems to be just a pedantic request that will have no bearing on the content, which is really what matters in the end.

In the end this is purely semantics. Renaming to windows central would cause an anomaly in the mobile nations network. I'm going to close this thread as a result as I do hot believe anything productive can come out of it.
