Virus Popup

Hi, not sure whom to address exactly for this but a few moments ago I had a pop-up show up on the WP Central main page saying that my computer had a virus. I think it was one of the ad's, but not sure which one was the culprit. It showed an image of Windows Defender (poorly copied too). Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up about it.

Could you run a virus scan please? Let us know the results. WPCentral does not show any ads like that for me. Please also show a screenshot of how it appeared.

I ran a full scan and it did not pick up anything. The pop-up never came back, so can't take a screen-shot of it (accidentally closed it prematurely). Thanks for checking.

Do you get this on the same page on each load, or is it a random thing? If it occurs on the same page over and over again, it's probably something we can address. If it's random, chances are it's a bad ad. Next time you spot this, if you can view the source of the page and send to me (my email is below), it will help us identify the ad and get it removed from rotation!

It has only had once and it was on the front page. If it happens again, I will do that.

I had the same thing happen yesterday on another web site. Then today on the front page here I hit an ad by accident and it popped up. Could the sites be using the same ad service. Does that service start with a g?

Just wanted to mention I was just on the news page looking something up and it popped up again. Same screen shots as Mase posted above. I was scrolling with my touch pad so I don't know what I hit to set it off.

So it just happened to me again. I was scrolling on a story, so a different place than before. Then the popup happens, you can't access the source while it is up. Also, if I close the popup and press back to get to the page that it happened on, wouldn't it reload a different ad?

I also got that popup from WPCentral and now twice from different computers I've been completely redirected from the WPCentral page to a spam website. Both boxes report no viruses and this has not been an issue with any other site so far.

I know you guys are working hard on this, but your ads are making Mobile Nations look really bad. The fake virus alerts are happening more often now.
