Question about Gears of War 4 Horde 3.0

Is it possible to play horde with random players online? And what happens if someone quits in middle of it? Does someone randomly joins the next wave or you are stuck with one player less for all following waves?
I absolutely love the GoW series and horde especially.

Yes. If someone quits in the middle of it, play resumes. Which kinda sucks, if you ask me, but bots won't be much help either.

You mean if someone quits they get replaced by bots? That's still better than having 1 less player. Didn't know they have introduced bots in horde.

They do not get replaced by bots, and likewise, no one can join a horde game in progress. So if you start with five players, and after a few rounds, two people quit/get disconnected, you have to play with three players for the entirety of the game.

I think the game scales to the amount of players in a match though, I managed to clear 50 waves with only three, having lost two from the beginning.
