Xbox One S Fan problem?

When I shutdown my Xbox One S as of late the fan spins up then does 3 times then completely stops is this normal?

Isn't normal at all, if you'd like you can return it for a new one.

A few questions to better understand the situation

a) How long have you had it?

b) Is it doing it every time now, or just some times? How long are you using the Xbox?

c) Is it in an enclosed space? Or is it open and well ventilated?

My sisters boyfriend has PS4, and he has it in a 'cubby' that may or may not always be open (glass front). That thing gets hot, and does it ever struggle (you can hear the fan givin' 'er two rooms away). Once we took it out and put it in the open, it didn't have any issues.
