With all the anger surrounding used games trading and sharing, would you pay an extra $5 a month for an Xbox Live rental service?
You could rent games from Xbox Live for a specific time period (24-48 hours) or
You could accrue time weekly (12 hours a week) to spend however you want on rentals.
I'm sure there is more that could be done but I'm just spit-balling here.
I would think MS could take these fees and based off actual game rentals could pay a fee to the publishers.
I know this still doesn't let people share their games but, for the price off one game annually, you could still have the shared experience and even play with your friends online at the same time.
