All our movies are MP4s on a hard drive that is in our desktop system. Our current XBox360 can read these through it's built-in system player. We go to the folder with the movie we want to watch, and that's about it.

Is there a way to get a better experience? Such as:

- show a movie poster or dvd jacket of the movie
- show genre (action, comedy, etc)
- sort by genre, or most viewed, etc

?

I'm hoping the Xbox One will give a better experience.
Unrelated question: if I put our movie hard drive on the Xbox One, will I be able to access it from other computers/tablets? To stream movies from (or put new movies to) the hard drive? I can't do that now with the Xbox360, that is why I keep the hard drive on the desktop

Sadly, that is the only option you have unless you invest (and it may be worth it into Plex and the PLEX PASS. I really miss Windows Media Center rom the XBOX 360 and wish I had it on the XBOX One.

That said, I am having an issue where the XBOX One Plex app may be using the internet and not DLNA to stream, which is causing my data usage for my home internet to spike.
