Last week may have brought us Microsofts big Windows 10 device event, but we are far from done with checking out new hardware running the companys latest platform. A few days back we learned of Acers intent to introduce its own latest device lineup, and the companys been doing just that overnight. That means plenty of new laptop and tablet hardware, but maybe the most interesting news to emerge from Acers announcements concerns its new Windows 10 smartphone, and the nice accessory package the manufacturers bundling with it.

Were talking about the Acer Liquid Jade Primo, first revealed at IFA last month. Its got a 5.5-inch 1080p OLED handset with 3GB of RAM, a 21MP/8MP camera pair, a Snapdragon 808 SoC under the hood, and USB type-C connectivity. Thats a solid set of specs on its own, but Acers not done yet.

One of the biggest features of Windows 10 for smartphones is Continuum, letting you connect a handset to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and use the phone with a familiar desktop, PC-like interface. With Microsofts new Lumia models, though, getting access to Continuum means spending an extra $100 on the required Display Dock accessory.

With the Jade Primo, Acer doesnt want anyone missing out on Continuum, so its selling the phone bundled with its own Continuum dock. Not just that, but the phone also comes with a keyboard and mouse. Basically, all youll need to start using the Jade Primo as a portable desktop is a spare monitor.

Of course, just how good a deal that really is will depend a lot on pricing, and we dont have those details quite yet. Is the idea of bundling Continuum hardware a trend youre hopeful will catch on, or would you prefer manufacturers kept things simple and left Continuum as an optional extra?

Still nothing on pricing or release date, but this is shaping up to be an intriguing high-end option.

Without a price confirmation, it's hard to get excited. Still nice to see OS support from 3rd-party manufacturers.

If gets good reviews, may be an option for me if ATT is exclusive to 950 and unlocks aren't available for awhile. Anyone seen who might carry it?
