While their two phones are pretty awesome, I don't see them as a direct threat to Windows Phone, or even other Android phones for that matter. As far as I know, they're just being sold unlocked, and not through carriers. Most people (not us techies, we're not most people) buy their phones subsidized through their carrier, and not direct from a manufacturer.

But the majority of windows phones are sold in the "budget" category and not subsidized by the carriers. These, along with other cheap android phones, will hit that segment hard. Plus the fact they will most likely ship with lollipop out of the box while we once again stand with our sacks hanging in the cold breeze, waiting for Win 10. Very interesting.

Remember, if it sounds too good be to true, it probably is.

Yes the specs look good. But it's a budget phone, so something has to give somewhere... We won't know where until it's released.

The pricing might explain why a 635 can go for as low as $39 from time to time. It also might show how overpriced the vast majority of phones are. Gotta love it when someone like Asus is willing to shake things up a little bit. Interesting waters lie dead ahead.
